Food has played an enormous part in my life for as long as I can remember. My plan after college was to study African folklore, but my passion for cooking took me on an unconventional path to the food world. I graduated from Spelman College and completed graduate studies as a British Marshall Scholar at The School of Oriental and African Studies in London. My dream of becoming a chef became a reality at the New England Culinary Institute (NECI) in Vermont. That’s where I learned to appreciate eating seasonally and supporting local growers and producers. My professional cooking experience includes stints at Alara Wholefoods in London, Chops Lobster Bar in Atlanta, and L’Absinthe Brasserie in New York. After graduating from NECI, I landed a job as a Culinary Researcher and Coordinator for the Food Network show Good Eats. My interest in food writing led me to serve as Assistant Foods Editor at Southern Living Magazine, where I frequently appeared as a Food and Entertainment Expert on TV shows Southern Living Step by Step and Southern Living Presents.
Afterward, in 2003, I took a leap of faith and launched All About Foods. I can express my culinary creativity through recipe development, content creation, freelance writing, and social media content.
