Lately life has been busier than ever. When there more’s work than life in this thing called work-life balance, it’s so easy to feel like you just can’t afford to get away. But guess what? The work that’s been occupying your time will still be there when you return. By the time our fall break rolls around in October, we’re all feeling the crunch of school, work, and outside activities. We’re ready to escape the everyday madness even if it’s just for a few days. We head to the Emerald Coast of Florida for most fall breaks because it’s our happy place. Making the trip to the Gulf Coast is easy for us. In less than five hours, we can plant our feet in sugar white sand and gaze at turquoise blue waters. Ready for a break? Check out my three reasons why you should get away soon:
-
Everyone deserves a break! Unless you are just independently wealthy and don’t need to depend on a 9 to 5, work is just a part of life that we all have to do to provide for our family. While work is important, we can easily burnout when we don’t take regular breaks. Lately, my mind has become so consumed with work that I’ve been dreaming about it-definintely not a good sign. Time to relax, pursue hobbies, or spend uninterrupted time with family and friends is essential. This allows us to calm our frayed minds and shift our thoughts and energy away from work.
-
Expand your world! Whether you like to travel locally or abroad, getting away allows you to see the world from a different point of view. When all that we see day in and day out is our neighborhood, we may run the risk of limiting our world perspective. Even though Destin has become a first choice for fall break for us, we explore different sites, beaches, and restaurants so that we have a different experience each time. And the good news is that you don’t have to travel far! You could do a staycation and be a tourist in your city. Find a state that’s within an easy driving distance and create a short itinerary to see as much as you can.

Create new memories! I’m acutely aware that I’m growing older by the day. I don’t want to look back over my life and realize that I haven’t created beautiful memories with my family and friends. These little short getaways allow you to create those memories. Maybe it’s a tradition that you create when you travel or a special memory of a place you’ve visited. These are bonds that you’ll always have. And speaking of pictures, don’t be afraid to take lots of them. Yes, the teens might protest mightily, but remember you’ll never get that moment back once it’s gone. Save, print and put your photos in old-school photo albums and online photo books to share.
