Being one of the great coastal cities, Destin enjoys a plethora of great seafood restaurants. The next time you’re in Destin, stop by Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House for dinner. But, I must warn you. There will most certainly be a long wait. Last year, we tried to get into this no-reservations restaurant, but a 2 1/2 hour wait when you’re starving is an instant no-go. So, we added Boshamps to our Fall Break to-do list this time-around. Thinking that we were ahead of the game, we still found ourselves signed up for, yes, you guessed it, another 2 1/2 hour wait. But this time around, we decided to stick it out. Grab a Pina Colada from the dockside bar and settle into a few hours of people-watching until it’s your turn. Stellar views of a sultry Gulf Coast sunset are irrestible too.
Was the 2 hour 18 minute wait worth it?
Once we sat down, it was clear that the wait was well worth it! We started dinner with The Devil’s Crab, a hot appetizer loaded with spicy lump crab meat. Fried saltines are perfectly crispy. Three signature entrees headline the main dishes, and you can’t go wrong with any of them. We tried the Pan Sauteed Gulf Snapper and “The Original” Snapper Destin. It was love at first bite for all of us. The Pan Sauteed Snapper was as fresh as the sea. Now “The Original” Snapper is a beast of a dish! It’s the ultimate combination of Southern favorites-perfectly braised collards, creamy mashed potatoes, and crunchy candied nuts. The crab, shrimp, and snapper make this a seafood masterpiece.
We were too stuffed to even consider dessert, but I confess to dessert envy when I saw that Buttermilk Pie on my neighbor’s plate! If you visit Boshamps, hit me up on Instagram or Facebook!
